The Automated Excel plug-in provides a quick and easy way to get a summary of your parts lists along with some part information into Microsoft Excel.
The plug-in provides the ability to combine versions of the assembly in one document so that easy comparisons can be done using Excel functionality. The comparison type reports can compare assembly versions where the names are the same or where they are different. For example when an assembly is updated, a comparison report can be run to compare what has changed. In the case where the assembly is sent out to a vendor and they provide their version where the names have changed, the plug-in allows you to match up part names so that you can compare volume and surface area changes between the two versions.
The plug-in extracts the following information:
- .3D file name
- File path to .3D
- Snapshot image of current display in the workspace
- Part name for every component in the assembly
- Volume for each component
- Surface area for each component
- Quantity for each component
The process of creating a report involves 5 steps.
- Select the report type
- Select an empty template or previous report
- Select the sorting criteria
- Select the output location
- Review the results
To access the plug-in, select Automated Excel from the Tools menu.
