Installing SpinFire

SpinFire 10.0 can be installed with either Full install file or the Web Install file.

The Full install file works well for customers that are installing on multiple PCs across the network as they will only have to download it once.

User Privileges

The user installing SpinFire must have administrator privileges in order for the installation to complete.

Prerequisites

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 redistributable package (Standalone Installer) is required for the installation to take place

It will be listed in the "Programs" list as follows;

** Windows Server 2008 R2 - Additional installation requirement

The Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 2 application needs to be installed in addition to the .Net 4 Extended described above.

The AspNetMVC2_VS2008.exe file can be downloaded from the following location;

** Windows XP 64Bit  - Additional installation requirement

Make sure the following components are installed prior to the SPinFire installation;

• 64-bit Windows Imaging Component (WIC)

Installation Options

The installation allows you to select the necessary components you need:

• Typical (installs ALL but DAA Plug-in and most Common Importers)
• Complete (installs all Importers and Plug-ins)
• Custom (add or remove from the Importer and Plug-in lists)

Note:  The Weight Calculation Plug-in can only be installed from the SpinFire “Plug-ins” page.

Installation Steps

The steps below will explain the installation steps for the (3) options, Typical, Complete, and Custom.

If either SpinFire 8.3, 8.4, or 9.0 are not already installed, please have either your Seat ID or License file available. 

• Double-click the installation file to start the SpinFire Installation Wizard
• Select the proper Language
• Wait while the files are extracted
  1. This could take several minutes
• At Welcome Screen select next
• Accept terms and conditions
• At Seat ID Screen, do one of the following;
  1. Key in current Seat ID
     • This will perform an Internet Activation
  2. Browse for, and select, the current license file
  3. Skip and set up licensing after the installation
     • NOTE: SpinFire will start in the "Reader" mode untill a valid license is supplied

NOTE: If you already have either SpinFire 8.3, 8.4, or 9.0 running, the license file will automatically be copied to the 10.0 folder, and this screen would be bypassed.

• Select Next
• Browse to Installation folder if not using the default
• Select Next
• Select Type of Installation 

1. Typical

   • Installs following Importers
     • AutoCAD, PDF, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, HPGL, IGES/VDA, NX, ProE, SolidWorks, STEP
   • Installs All Available Plug-ins
     • Except for DAA and “Weight Calculation” Plug-ins

2. Complete

   • Installs All Available Importers
   • Installs All Available Plug-ins
     • Except “Weight Calculation” Plug-in

3. Custom

   • Select which Importers to install
     • Select from the Displayed List
   • Select which Plug-ins to install
     • Select from the Displayed List

• Select Next
• Select Install
• The last screen to see is the “Finish” screen, where you select “Finish”
