The minimum distance plug-in calculates the minimum distance between two or more parts.
To access the plug-in, select Tools > Compute Minimum Distance.
This displays the Minimum Distance panel.
Click 
: This opens the Help File and About dialog for Minimum Distance plug-in.
To select parts or surfaces
- In Compare Set # 1 Group box select either Parts or Surfaces radio button.
- Click the Select button.
- Select any part or surface from the Workspace or Assembly Tree.This displays the selected part or surface name in the Compare Set # 1 text box.
Note: You can select any number of parts or surfaces from the Workspace or Assembly Tree. - Click Stop Selection to stop the selection.
- In Compare Set # 2 Group box select either Parts or Surfaces radio button.
- Click the Select button.
- Select any part or surface from the Workspace or Assembly Tree.This displays the selected part or surface name in the Compare Set # 2 text box.
Note: You can select any number of parts or surfaces from the Workspace or Assembly Tree. - Click Stop Selection to stop the selection.
- Click Create displays the minimum distance between the selected parts and surfaces in the viewport as a markup.
To remove the selected part or surface
- Select the part or surface which you would like to remove from the Compare Set group box.This highlights the Remove button.
- Click Remove.This deletes the selected part/surface from the Compare Set group box.

•You can pick multiple parts or surfaces by using Ctrl+Click and Shift+Click and select any number of parts/ surfaces.
