Importers
With SpinFire™, you can view native CAD files in nearly all the most popular file formats. To view a file in a certain format you will need to have the importer for that format installed. Importers are software modules that give SpinFire™ direct access to your native CAD files. To see a list of the importers already installed in your SpinFire™, go to the Options component and click Importers.
SpinFire is able to use certain importers to import 2D CAD files as vector data. These files will be imported into 2D documents. Multi-page CAD drawings will have each page imported into a separate document in the Workspace. In addition, when a 3D CAD model has 2D drawings associated with it, each 2D drawing will be placed on its own document in the Workspace.
To the right of each importer listing on the Importers page, you will find a button labeled Options. The Options button opens up a dialog box which features settings available for that importer. Each importer has different options available. Some common options associate file extensions with the importer, determine the default unit of measurement, set the precision of tri-mesh approximation, and select filters for entities associated with that file type. The new Importer Option dialog in SpinFire 10 can be left open while you work on the main application. So you can import files and check the result in the 3D graphics with the Option dialog open. To save a change in the option use the "Apply" button. Importing the file after that will be using the new settings. For a complete list of importers available from Actify, go to the SpinFire™ Formats page. Importers are updated frequently. When a new version of an importer is available a notification will appear in the SpinFire home page and a link to update the importer shows in the Importers page under the Options. |

Viewing
Viewing a CAD design is easy. Select File > Open Workspace from the menu bar and choose the CAD file you want to view. The content of the file wll appear as one or more documents in the Workspace. (For details about working with documents in the Workspace, see Working with Documents in the .3D WorkSpace.
The volume precision setting determines how precisely SpinFire™ will render models. Higher precision may result in longer importing time and slower operation. See Set Volume Precision for details.
Saving
SpinFire™'s .3D file format enables people without a CAD application to view design data. The .3D file contains all the documents in the WorkSpace as well as all the notes, measurements, and views added with SpinFire™. Sharing a design in a .3D file protects the information in your original CAD file while allowing others to see the parts and measurements. Others can view .3D files from SpinFire™ or the free SpinFire Reader.
To save the documents in the WorkSpace as a .3D file, open the CAD file in SpinFire™ and either select File > Save from the menu bar or click the Save button in the toolbar.
To save a view of a model as a JPEG, BMP, or EMF file, select File > Export from the menu bar.
Printing
To print a document, either select File > Print or click the Print button on the toolbar. This will open a dialog box with options for printing the document. See Print a Design for details.
